On the topic of things

I read an article a while back about the randomiser feature on iPods, and people who were certain their ipods were favouring a certain song or artist.

Now, I know the guy from Apple said it was technically impossible, because of how it randomises, but I'm calling bullshit on this one.

My ipod has a fascination with the song Michael by Franz Ferdinand. Seroiusly. Prior to that, it went through a Marilyn Manson phase. The Apple guy pointed out it was probably more that people had a prolific amount of one artist and so it seemed as though they were randomly selected more, but I had one Manson album. One.

Another example. I have the song Smile, by Vitamin C (I need happy music every now and then too!). You know how often that's come up randomly? Nonce!.

Other Topics For Discussion.

The Trial of Donna Awatere Huata.
I give this trail a LOL out of 5. Should I reserve judgement 'till the defence has at least had their say? Shit no, that's not what free speech is all about is it? The silly woman stole a tonne of cash. She didn't think she'd get caught, and now she has. She even tried to cover it all up by destorying and recreating fake documents like minutes of meetings. I'm really keen to see how the defense justifys this.

The Trial and Subsequent Imprisonment of Graham Capill.
This is really just sad. My favourite part: One of Graham's wonderfully forgiveful supporters was quoted in a news paper as saying he had sufferd a 'weakness of the flesh'.

WITH A GIRL UNDER 12 YEARS OLD!?(subsequently, I've found out one of them was 5 at the time.) I have a weakness of the flesh, I go pay a prostitue for casual sex. Not rape a child. Honestly.

Here's what really worries me though. He'll get out of jail in 3 years time (no none-parol period set, so the default of one third of the sentance applies). Then, he'll be some great 'born again' Christian (you cannot honestly tell me that he can still be considered a follower of the teachings of Christ after this). He'll parlay his time in prison, with the increase in attention that will forever be lavashed on him, into a great big publicity pull for the Christian heritage party or some such. I can not help but think he is exactly the sort of person who will turn all of this to his favour.

"Yes, I did some wrong and bad things in the past *wave of hands* but now I really BELIEVE!! let my errors help to guide you..." etc. You get the idea.

Either that or he'll be killed, and martyered. I just can't see him having to actually pay for what he did. His debt to society is so huge it's wrapped right around and come out on the side of him being a hero.

On the Subject of Updating
I keep thinking of things I could write about. Once I'm sitting in front of my computer, my mind goes blank and all I can do is watch Robot Chicken.

The other day I had to go to the other end of the store for some reason. I got to the other end of the store and had to stop and wonder what it was I was doing and why I was there. I realised I must have had a reason, and traced my steps back to the storeroom. I timed my trip back, it took 11 seconds.

So there you go, I have an 11 second retention.

Cellphones.
There are no good new cellphones are there? It's all the same old boring stuff now. I long for the day of $800 phones I want to buy because they're so damn cool. I hope that with Vodafone's 3G network going online there will be a bunch of new 3G phones to lust for, but somehow I doubt it.

Work.
I'm back to 6 days of work in the week. Whops! Yeah I don't want to talk about it.

Music.
The Foo Fighters are coming (yay!), tickets are $80 (boo!). I bought the new album just to make sure they hadn't turned to suck, and it's ok, they havn't. They're really quite polished now. Infact, almost sterile. Almost... I did find I had to remind myself it was Dave Grohl a few times... I expect the live show will be good. Tickets, however, go on sale on the 8th or so. I have zero chance of remembering this, so they'll sell out before I get one. (Or they wont sell out at all because it's eighty bleeding dollars.) It's ok though, Labour will wipe my student loan in time for me to have enough money to buy one. Ha.

Politics.
Are boring.

Ha! See what I did there? No seriously, it doesn't matter who you vote for, everyone's more interested in furthering their own self-interests than helping any of their voters. I long for the day someone creates a party I actually want to vote for. You know what though? As ugly as Helen Clark may be, Don Brash and Gerry Brownlee are not people I want associating with New Zealand. Ugly female leaders are fine - everyone got over that with Margaret Thatcher. But ugly male leaders? That just makes us look bad. (Is that sexist? I hope not, but I'm pretty tired right now eh...)

Movies.
Fantastic Four was..... ... ... ok.
We collected a friend to go and see it, who was having drinks with a couple of film students. They chided us for going to see a holywood popcorn money-maker when the film festival was on. I didn't really care, I don't go to movies for the movie - I go for the popcorn. Stale, stale popcorn. And to make some kid who had the misfortune of having the only ticket in his group of friends that wasn't in the row, but who hoped no one would be sitting in that chair, move to the other end of the cinema because fuck him, I want my seat. It's always kids that do that don't you find? Don't they know how to read? Oh!

The Education System.
Holy crap what is wrong with people. Right, I can demonstratably not spell. But what the hell, I can do things like see the difference between your and you're, lose and loose, bought and brought. Also; alot is not a word. Holy crap what are they teaching kids?? It sure as shit isn't how to not be a retard.

Right that'll do.

I'm going by the way - so buy a god damnd ticket fool! And join us - so far there's 4 of us - maybe more - come join in our frivolities! And yes - its $82 + $8 booking fee - but you don't have to pay for airfaires... ouch...

I really really hate christians at the moment. They get to me - which is strange because I've always called myself one. But seeing how they act - and the Destiny Church and it's Political Party - I am scared - very very scared....
